Why we serve Banh Mi
During my four years living in a university dormitory, every morning I would eagerly listen for the familiar voice of the bánh mì vendor echoing down the hallway.
That crispy baguette, warm, filled with rich pâté, creamy egg butter, and fresh homemade toppings, didn’t just satisfy my hunger; it wrapped me in comfort and reminded me of home.
More than 15 years after graduating, I returned to visit the dormitory and discovered that the original vendor was no longer there, but in her place stood her daughter, proudly carrying on the family tradition of serving bánh mì to the next generation of students.
It wasn’t until much later that I learned Vietnam’s bánh mì had been ranked sixth among the world’s top 50 street foods by TasteAtlas, a recognition that affirmed what my heart already knew.
